Discarded plastic bottles were collected from the streets, arranged by colour and installed on top of a bus stop advertisement in Mumbai.
In 2011 I spent four months working alongside rubbish pickers in Mumbai to help collect rubbish from the streets and train tracks.
The rubbish I collected was then sorted by colour and installed back into the various public spaces from which it was originally collected.

Old kurtas were collected from the Khar Road railway tracks, sorted by colour and then hung on display.

Indian men chew ‘paan’ tobacco and spit in corners and on walls. I tried coating these stains with watercolours so they might resemble abstract or expressionistic paintings in public space, but I’m not sure if this worked.
